Social Media Promotion: Exploring the Impact of Motion Design on Modern Advertising

I’m writing a long-form essay about the rise and impact of motion design in the advertising industry for my graduate writing course. This week, we’re focusing on short-form writing for social media channels. The objective is to create effective social media posts that promote our article. I designed three GIFS with unique captions and provided a rationale for choosing the platform and its content.

LinkedIn

Caption:

LinkedIn is a professional platform for career development, industry trends, and more. Based on my experience on the platform, captions are usually long and insightful. Michelle J Raymond advises adding interactivity to LinkedIn posts, therefore I added a question for users to engage with, as well as a moving visual. The target audience for my teaser post is professionals working in motion design, advertising, and marketing. They are most likely interested in emerging trends and opportunities in their fields.

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms, so I needed to use it to promote my article to increase website traffic. A visually-driven platform, I used a GIF to emphasize my article topic and give a quick insight into it. The caption is “punchy” to suit the scrolling nature of the platform. I also added emojis to make it more casual and approachable to users. Following Brandwatch tips, I added relevant hashtags to increase post visibility and added a CTA to guide users to my profile bio to click on the article link. Instagram’s demographic is younger, so I would target aspiring, creative professionals interested in design, marketing, branding, and visual storytelling.

Twitter is a fast-paced, conversational platform that could generate quick traffic to my article. The caption sends a clear and short message about my article’s topic. The media is a moving GIF and I used limited, but relevant hashtags. I also followed X Business suggestions of using emoji to add emotion and included the CTA to go read my article. The audience I’m targeting on X are digital marketers, advertising professionals, and those interested in the intersection of creativity and strategy.
